The first week....

Sweet sweet muck, Sticky crud and the big toothpaste arrived from Dunedin ceramic artists Madeleine Child and Philip Jarvis respectively. It’s been a challenge to keep peoples mitts off Madeleine’s incredibly tempting creations and it’s worth a visit alone to see Philips loo set!
The other worldly ‘Stadium‘  is here from Auckland thanks to Denys Watkins- a master class in balance and colour control. The stunning ‘Moana Pool’ by Kate Small also here- it’s a beautiful example of her typically contemplative studies of the human condition- always with a little bit of tongue in the corner of the cheek.
Megan Campbell and Andy Irving continue to delight their Wellington fans – Megan with her quirky takes on what it is to be alive and well in the new millennium! and Andy is affecting traffic flow along Para St. at night with his ‘Striplight’, and his lovely little ‘Copper House’ is off to a good home.

Roger Booth has turned a few heads with his fresh take on the art of mosaic tiling with ‘Intersection’ and has another gem, the two part ‘Ice storm’ about to arrive. Scott Kennedy has pulled out the wonderfully titled ‘New York apartment style living’, which will delight his many long-time followers. Helena Hughes has sent down four stunning double exposure works in collaboration with Warren Elwin, who shot over the top in New York.
Angus walker has produced a little B/W stunner with ‘This is the place’ and Andrew Missen has people lining up for more ‘scribble’ action with his delightful wall mounted construction.
So all up it has been a great first week for Cecil Veda Gallery- people really seem to love the concept.
The flowers look and smell divine, come and get ‘em!! See you soon.
